About this Event

The team that created the book, "We Stand Together, Just Six Feet Apart," is currently donating all of the book proceeds* to UNICEF and their COVID-19 relief work that focuses on ending the pandemic. UNICEF’s mission to “provide health care and immunizations, safe water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more” to children is key at all times and especially during a pandemic. The current goal is to raise $3000 for UNICEF, which will cover the cost of at least 1000 vaccines ($3/vaccine). We encourage anyone who is looking for a way to give back to consider donating to UNICEF directly through our fundraiser/event page or purchase a book (all proceeds will then in turn be donated to UNICEF). *No portion of the purchase price is tax deductible. UNICEF does not endorse any brand, company, or service.

PAY IT FORWARD & ACTS OF KINDNESS CHALLENGE

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." - Aesop

This past year, we learned that health is the first wealth and one way to stay healthy in mind, body, and spirit is to look for ways to give back and be kind. We wholeheartedly recognize that the past year has been full of highs and lows and on some level everyone has experienced losses. Our hearts especially go out to anyone who has lost a loved one during this time. In order to foster resilience and more care for each other, the team is encouraging everyone to pay it forward with an acts of kindness challenge that we are calling #lovestillabounds2021. Share your ideas with us on instagram @justsixfeetapart and in an effort to keep track of the acts of kindness, we ask that you follow us there if you plan to take part and like any of the posts that reference the challenge. Share your ideas and this challenge with your friends and use the tag #lovestillabounds2021 when you do!

***Please share with your family, friends, neighbors, and on your social media to encourage others to support this fundraiser. And if looking for a new book, the book is encouraging, a wonderful way to continue to have positive conversations with children, and details this time in history. You can follow and connect with the team on instagram @justsixfeetapart. Please feel free to share your tips for how to weather the homestretch of the pandemic and stay healthy in mind, body, and spirit for a chance to be featured. The page additionally will be a space to share updates on fundraising efforts and good news stories as well so share an act of kindness you have witnesssed or your own good news.

"We Stand Together, Just Six Feet Apart"

This book was written in April 2020 by three physicians (Katherine Clarridge, MD, Msc, Renee Kleris, MD, MPH, and Rebecca MacDonnell-Yilmaz MD, MPH) and illustrated by artist Catherine Wilson.

The idea for this book started where most ideas these days start, at home. Being in healthcare, when the news of the coronavirus first broke, many questions arose from family, friends, neighbors, and patients. Our hope is that the book will serve as a conversation starter to talk about the many changes and how we can all try and stay healthy in mind, body, and spirit, while also highlighting the good and care for each other that has emerged. We extend our gratitude and dedicate this book to the frontline healthcare workers, essential workers, teachers, and everyone finding ways to care for each other during this time. We hope this book will give you and your families peace of mind that even when we are separated that we remain connected and have the opportunity to become stronger and better because of this time.
