This interactive webinar will cover all things civic engagement, with a focus on opportunities for UNITERs to engage with the 2020 presidential campaigns and elevate youth voices this election year. Participants will work together to identify the issues with greatest impact on youth and how they can be brought to the attention of presidential candidates. Together we will brainstorm solutions to common barriers that children and young people face in making their voices heard, whether they be under 18 and striving to have their needs prioritized, or over 18 and exercising their right to vote.

Rebecca Hinkhouse – UNICEF UNITE Advocacy & Engagement Fellow
Rebecca Hinkhouse serves as the UNICEF UNITE Advocacy & Engagement Fellow, for which she works with UNICEF USA’s supporters across the country to implement grassroots advocacy activations. Before joining UNICEF USA, Rebecca served as an undergraduate fellow at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security where she designed and executed a legislative advocacy campaign to promote women’s involvement in international conflict management. While completing her degree at Georgetown, she also completed internships at the State Department, the Senate, and the French Embassy in Washington, DC.
Ryan Sasse – Assistant Director, Advocacy & Engagement
Ryan Sasse currently serves as Assistant Director, Advocacy & Engagement at UNICEF USA. In this role, Ryan works to sustain and deepen the organization’s advocacy initiatives with supporters and partners across the country, including UNICEF USA’s annual Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill and the launch of a Child Friendly Cities Initiative pilot this year. Before joining UNICEF USA in January 2017, Ryan worked at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), where he managed the organization’s relationships with select government agencies and multilateral organizations – including UNICEF. He has a background in LGBT and women’s rights advocacy, having started his career in public service under the Obama Administration with positions at USAID and the White House Office of Public Engagement.
Fabienne Goldgaber – Manager, Advocacy & Engagement
Fabienne Goldgaber serves as Manager, Advocacy & Engagement at UNICEF USA based in New York City, where she also sits on the UNICEF Next Generation NYC steering and program committees. She helped launch UNICEF Congressional Action Teams (now UNICEF UNITE), serving as co-leader for two years in NYC. Prior to joining UNICEF USA, Fabienne advocated on immigration, health, child welfare and early childhood issues with the goal of improving the lives of children and families in New York City and New York State. She hopes to equip, empower and lead our youth to become the advocates and leaders of tomorrow.
Rachel Wisthuff – Assistant Director, Office of Public Policy & Advocacy
Based out of Washington, DC, Rachel Wisthuff is the Assistant Director of Public Policy and Advocacy (OPPA) helping to implement UNICEF USA’s advocacy and engagement objectives through collaboration with the NGO community, outreach to the US Government, and coordination with UNICEF’s global campaigns. Rachel joined UNICEF USA in January 2017 as a Manager of Advocacy & Engagement in the New York Office. Prior to UNICEF USA, Rachel worked as a Grassroots Officer with Girl Up, the adolescent girls campaign of the UN Foundation. Rachel graduated from Macalester in 2011, majoring in International Studies. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the district with her dog, Tico.
