Trafficking is a pertinent issue not only in other countries, but in the United States as well. All 50 U.S. states have reported human trafficking; people can be trafficked and exploited regardless of race, class, education, gender, age or citizenship. Globally, an estimated 150 million children are subjected to child labor, and almost half are forced to do hazardous work.
UNICEF works to protect children from this exploitation by providing parents with better living wages, lobbying governments to develop better laws that keep children safe, training professionals who work with children to stop trafficking, and more. All of the profits from this run fundraiser will go towards UNICEF’s End Trafficking project.
From Friday, June 11th to Sunday, June 13th, participants will log how far they have run for this event. The person who walks/runs the longest will get a $25 Amazon gift card! After purchasing tickets, participants will get the following: access to a running playlist our high school club made; a runner’s bib that can be printed out and worn for the run; and more information about tracking miles. If runners ask friends and families to sponsor them, donations can be made with the DONATE button -- please submit donations by Friday, June 18th. We are excited to fundraise for and bring awareness to this important cause, and we would greatly appreciate your support!
