I recently watched the Netflix special called Tales by Light and was moved by the stories of children and their families who because of poverty needed to send 5,6,7 and 8 year old children into the workforce. The images and stories I saw in this documentary that highlights photographers cracked open my heart. PROJECT 108 sixteenth fundraiser is long overdue and this yogathon will benefit all who participate and the money raised will go to UNICEF, earmarked for children’s education. Unicef helps save and protect the world’s most vulnerable children and less than 3% of every dollar goes to administration costs. Project 108 is an event of devotion, sweat and the incomparable practice of service.
At this time I have decided a virtual event will be the safest. We will join through zoom and engage in the ancient practice of offering a rosary of 108 body prayers called the salutation to the sun. If you would like to join there are several options. #1 the actual practice. #2 non-physical participation by monetary donation. #3 both - offering the sun salutation ( if the 108 seems daunting, you may offer many as possible, you can always rest!) and using your cash and your friends monetary support for children to have the chance at an education.
