For Syrian children affected by years of conflict, education can be an amazingly powerful tool. Beyond the immediate benefits of structure and protection from violence, education empowers children to build a better future for themselves and their families.
Self Learning in Syria
The Self Learning program aims to reach 95,000 out-of-school students in Syria with life-changing education they otherwise would not be able to receive. More than 100,000 Syrian children in hard to reach areas have already benefitted from self-learning, with impressive results.
UNICEF provides course materials that have been condensed in order to help children who have missed school catch up. Students receive structured and sustained support, and community learning centers create safe environments conducive to learning.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the Education Above All Foundation, all gifts to this program, up to $10.5 million, will be doubled to further leverage donors' impact.
