Guinea Virtual Field Visit

12:00pm EST 3/23/2021

About this Event

This event is first come, first serve (up to 100 guests) and is exclusively for Advocacy Week participants who are 18 years or older and have registered for the Meeting Track.

In celebration of World Water Day on 22 March, please join us on a one-hour virtual journey to Guinea where we will follow UNICEF’s life-saving efforts in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and education while highlighting how philanthropic partnerships secure transformational progress for children and communities.

Water for Guinea Champions
Water for Guinea Champions Andy Astrachan and Wendy Serrino will kick off the journey by sharing their critical roles in helping to scale up sustainable access to safe water in remote villages in Guinea.

Progress Made Together
Over the course of the visit, UNICEF field colleagues will highlight the challenges children and families face in Guinea, compounded by COVID-19 restrictions and speak to the impact of UNICEF’s WASH and Education programs. We will see the progress Water for Guinea has made in its manual drilling program which is helping not only bring a sustainable supply of safe water to remote communities but also build the skills and capacity of local artisans and private sector for manual drilling. We will also hear about a UNICEF USA supported education program that has safeguarded children’s right to education.
