Since the beginning of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, more than 1.3 billion children have lost access to in-person education following physical distancing requirements, and with it, the school meals that provided a key source of nutrition. Global economic growth is projected to decline by 4.9 percent in 2020, with a cumulative loss to the global economy of over $12 trillion over two years (2020 to 2021). In addition, the impacts of COVID-19 have pushed an additional 150 million children into poverty.

At present, UNICEF is leading the global effort to procure and supply COVID-19 vaccines in what could be the world’s largest and fastest ever procurement and supply of vaccines, as part of the global vaccine plan of the COVID-19 Vaccine Global Access Facility (COVAX Facility) led by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

All proceeds from ticket sales for this class with Barry's Bootcamp will go toward the COVID-19 Vaccination Operation Fund. By contributing to the fund you will provide UNICEF and partners with the operational support needed to address this unprecedented global response, including:

  • Pre-positioning of over 520 million syringes and 5.2 million safety boxes to fill supply gaps in the most vulnerable communities around the globe;
  • Purchase 96,000 vaccine fridges, cold boxes and vaccine carriers;
  • Provide 258 million items of personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep healthcare workers safe;
  • Support for temperature-controlled freight, ground logistics, and warehousing;
  • 100 million surge stocks of diagnostic test and treatments; and
  • Provide healthcare worker training in hundreds of languages to 215 million healthcare workers

With your support, UNICEF will be able to support vulnerable populations in mitigating the negative consequences of COVID-19. As the pandemic continues, UNICEF is working with partners to reimagine and develop a world that is a safer and more equitable place for communities and children everywhere.
