Join us for a screening and panel on one of the largest humanitarian crises of our time: the mass displacement of millions of Syrian families affected by the violence and bloodshed in Syria. This short documentary, A Syrian Woman: Human Stories from Jordan (a selection for this year’s St. Louis International Film Festival), focuses on stories of Syrian refugee women living within and outside of the camps in Jordan. With the Syrian crisis now in its eighth year, these women share, intimately, how they've rebuilt their lives and find strength to hold alive a thread of hope for their children, many of whom have only known life as a 'refugee.'

Last fall, DeCaprio and his team traveled to Jordan to give voice to these courageous women, whose stories of survival and transformation highlight the struggles many displaced women and children face. These mothers and daughters now live in a world where they are making decisions for themselves and their families independently – often for the first time in their lives – all while navigating adversity such as economic uncertainty, gender-based trauma, and childhood marriage.

The film presents a vision of these women as managers, caregivers, and advocates for change as they fight to keep hope alive and build a new life.

We are pleased to invite you to the premier private viewing of A Syrian Woman: Human Stories from Jordan, joined by UNICEF USA expert panelists on Syria and the surrounding region.
